President Buhari has reluctantly approved a meagre 70 million Naira (less than $350,000 USD) for Nigeria's 55th independence day celebration. This is in contrast to the $1 million USD President Goodluck Jonathan approved for ThisDay music festival in 2006. An event which Beyonce and others performed at. President Buhari had insisted the amount be less than 70 million Naira considering the hardship the country's going through, but was made to realise that was the cheapest independence celebration available to Nigeria.
